WE LEAVE TOMORROW!!!

OMG - we leave in just a few hours! Is everything ready? What else do we need??

  • Make sure to double-check that WHAT TO BRING list on the sidebar, especially
    • Trip shirt - wear it!!
    • INSTRUMENT!!
    • Polo pep shirt (for the recording session)
    • Sunscreen
    • Water bottle (it will be VERY hot!)
    • Medication
    • Phone and charger
    • Good shoes for lots of walking
  • Don't over-pack. Remember, we're only in the Park for three days.
  • If you have to check a bag, consider combining your stuff with someone from your room. Sometimes two instruments that can't go in the overhead can fit in one large bag. Each bag/instrument we check will add $60 overall to the total cost of the trip, and that adds up after a while.
  • Flutes can go inside your overhead carry-on. Violins, violas, trumpets, and clarinets can go in the overhead as a carry-on. Other instruments will need to be checked. Cellos should be gate-checked. Everyone gets to carry on a "personal bag", usually a backpack that can fit under your seat.
  • Make sure to leave early enough to be INSIDE the airport before 3:00. Check Google Maps for drive times  to see how the freeway traffic is.
  • Talk with your adult(s) about how you're coming home after we get back on Wednesday. Do you need to ride with someone else's family? McKee needs something in writing from your adult(s) to allow that to happen, and the person picking you up MUST be an adult
  • Let your adult(s) know that they can either come inside and meet you at the Southwest baggage area on Wednesday, or they can wait in the Cell Phone Waiting Area until you text, and then pick you up at the curb outside the baggage area. McKee or anther staff person will have to see you with them BEFORE you get in the car!

OK, that's plenty to think about, so let's finish getting ready and we'll see everyone at the airport! Oh boy!
